Pre-Idulfitri 2016 Headlines

There are a lot of happenings surrounding us in the globe in this holy fasting month leading to Idulfitri. Some may bring happiness to some while others may bring sadness to some. Here are my picks for the headlines:

Global Headlines

a. Brexit campaign successful and Britain officially exit from European Union (EU) - Referendum which held on 23 June 2016 resulted British votes for exit by 52%.

b.  England exit European twice a week - This time around England was knocked out of Euro Cup after beaten by the super duper underdog Island (Iceland) of 2-1 in Round of 16 on 27 June 2016.

c. Turkey Blast, Again? - More than 40 peoples died and more than 200 peoples injured following the shooting and blast by the terrorist assailants at Istanbul Airport on 28 June 2016. As expected, the finger pointing is leading to ISIS in connection of the deadly attack.

Local Headlines

a. Bigger majority win in two by-elections - Mr PM and federal government can inhaled deep breath and could smile longer with the win at Sungai Besar (Big River) and Kuala Kangsar by-elections on 18 June 2016. Seems like the winning formula applied by BN worked very well. And for some period of time ahead, Mr PM is on the upper hand.

b. TSMY and DSMM finally made to the UMNO axed list - With no surprise, the former DPM and the former Mentri Besar of Kedah were finally sacked from UMNO after unanimous decision by UMNO supreme council on 24 June 2016. DSSA UMNO membership was suspended pending for disciplinary report.

c. LGE charged in court with two charges - On 30 June 2016, LGE claimed trials of the offences under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 (Act 694) and Section 165 of Penal Code. If convicted, he might be taken to jail and this time may be longer than before. Solidarity for LGE, are you?

What more can be expected as the time is fast approaching Idulfitri? And what will be the headlines after Idulfitri? So enjoy reading, thinking and writing...
